Chapter 529

Preparation (2)

Reid Glorio Allysia, King of Allysia Kingdom.

When he visited the Rogard Empire on official business and heard about Yuki’s current devious plan, he nodded his head in agreement to cooperate with Yuki on the spot.

He agreed partly because he owed Yuki a debt of gratitude, but more simply because he thought it would benefit the Allysia Kingdom as well.

The Rogard Empire remained a major power.

Although the Allysia Kingdom was clearly more powerful than the Rogard Empire now, it was still one of the top three most powerful nations among human nations.

Both in terms of economic and military power.

During the reign of the previous emperor, until the outbreak of the war, the Rogard Empire was a powerful nation that stood strong and calculating, showing its prowess as a great power to neighboring countries not only by force but also by trickery.

Even for the Allysia Kingdom, the Rogard Empire’s influence was so great that it had to be seen as an [Imaginary Enemy]… since they were a powerhouse of humanity…

The Rogard Empire was certainly pushing humanity to greater heights alone.

So, in terms of [Balance of Power] … it would honestly be troubling if the Empire, which had been an Imaginary enemy of the Allysia Kingdom, were to sink as it was.

Now, the world’s power structure has changed.

Allysia Kingdom cooperated greatly with the [Undead Dragon War] for the sake of the future, but that battle ended the era of human dominance, and races other than humans have started to rise to prominence.

That in itself was not a bad thing, Reid believes. Until now, humans had been a little too prominent.

This was a source of conflict, both between humans and other species.

However, if things continued as they were, there was a possibility that the position of humans would be pushed in the opposite direction in the near future.

For the next few years, various species may be able to get along without any particular change, but ten or twenty years from now, the situation would become uncertain.

As long as Yuki, the most powerful person in the humanoid species today, was not human, it was an undeniable fact that humanity would never be able to claim that they were the most powerful species even if Yuki didn’t do anything.

What was important was the balance.

If the balance between mutual interests, which were tightly intertwined, was not maintained, war would break out in no time.

Even if things such as benevolence and charity were important, they pale into insignificance when it came to running a nation… Useless… tangible interests which were obvious to everyone were involved.

At important times, even rulers that were good-natured would not hesitate to make the harshest of decisions.

The first thing to consider was the interests of their own country. Every ruler connected to Yuki was cooperating with each other because they thought it would be beneficial for them to do so.

The Demon King Finar had an excellent sense in this field, and he seemed to have a good understanding of the “distance at which he could be friendly with someone” and would act accordingly to who he was dealing with.

Thanks to his skill, a framework for the new world had been established, and everyone was trying to keep it in their minds what they could do for the future generations.

The Demon King Finar could be said to be the “leader” of the current world.

Therefore, Reid thought that the scheme of Yuki and the Demon King Finar would be useful for his country in the future.

Removing the [Disease] of the Rogard Empire and stabilizing the country would be helpful to humanity.

So he went to the Imperial Palace in the Rogard Empire and met with its inhabitants.

***

“Well, well, you are concerned about strange things, Reid-sama. It is because of noble bloodlines like ours that the people are allowed to live as citizens.”

“…I see…perhaps that is also another way to think about it.”

The people in the room were relatives of the former emperor, Shendra – members of the royal family.

Every one of them had the same expression on their faces as the man in front of Reid.

“But the country is made up of each one of these citizens, you know. Since that is the case, isn’t it okay to have some attachment to those people?”

“Yes, well…sure. A tool… As long as they serve as a tool… then we might as well admire them for doing a good job.”

For words spoken to royalty from another country who had just met them, they were quite unreserved.

Reid could sense from this brief exchange that these were their true thoughts.

–I see.

Reid was also a person who, as the King of a country, had overseen the country for many years.

As such, he had seen various people and was able to get a general idea of the other party’s personality from just a few words.

No… Even if someone else were to engage in the current exchange, he would probably come to the same conclusion as Reid.

–They were, to put it mildly, scums.

These people have no idea of [Protecting their country].

These people consider the people as nothing more than dust.

The only thing that mattered to these people was themselves.

Well, not long ago, they were in a position where they could not appear on a public stage in the country.

People like them were born in the royal family from time to time. To put it simply, they were fools.

They have everything, and they have the power to do whatever they want, which leads them to adulthood without any sense of morality.

–I heard that the former emperor had stripped these people of their power and put them in near imprisonment.

For a moment, Reid almost looked nauseous, but the social skills he had learned as a King kept him smiling, not moving a muscle in his expression.

Well, they wouldn’t be on the public stage any longer.

They could move freely only for now.

Appropriate measures would be taken soon.

Garbage should be in the trash…
