Chapter 160: Date with Celine~2!

Even though he said 'Date', Seth knew he couldn't take Celine out of the palace for several reasons. Her existence was far more precious than his or any other royalty, the Emperor included. Ranghaur has reached its peak in recent years thanks to the surveillance resource that tracks any invasion or rebellious movements before they could implicate any harm to the Empire.

And that resource was Celine.

Seth just wanted to create some distance between the two of them and the eavesdropping maids. He didn't have any artifacts that could surround them with the silencing charm so he chose the physical method.

Sensing that no one was around them at this corner of the palace, Seth finally turned to look at Celine who until now was following him silently in tow.

"Why does Your Highness seem confused? Do you feel offended by being touched by me?" Seth bluntly asked his grip around her wrist loosened.

However, soon Celine intervened their fingers while maintaining eye contact, as she spoke in her usual tone yet there was a strand of perplexion tugged along with her words.

"I can't decipher you, Seth. At one moment you seem calculating and cunning to the point where I think you might sell your brother if it benefits you and at the next moment you do something that makes my heart...uneasy."

Well, the first part of her perception toward Seth wasn't wrong since he pretty much was using everyone around him including his mother as well. But the latter part of her statement made even Seth confused.

Without straining over contemplation, he just blurted his true feelings behind the action he just partook in, "I just wanted to make my future wife know that I am not going to make our relationship entirely out of custom and formalities. It may take some time but I am sure we would get to love each other while being knotted with the relationship of marriage, one day. And I promise that I will keep you happy and safe after we marry...Celine. "

"..." Celine...maybe for the first time in years, reacted.

It was not the vow or the promise Seth made rather hearing her name from him for the first time made her feel weird and funny from the inside.

Celine might be older than Seth by two years but it was the first time she has felt something like this in her entire twenty years of life.

Because of her peculiar gifted eyes, she assumed she would be spending the rest of her remaining days working as an asset for her father and this empire.

However, her perception has begun to change over time after what transpired last autumn. She still could vividly remember the night when she lost her good friend and maid and was saved by this same man who currently was holding her hand.

Something she has never allowed anyone to do other than her family members. But unlike with them when she felt nothing out of the gesture, with Seth she felt complete.

"Hey, Seth... "Seth was slightly startled as suddenly Celine took his other free hand and pressed it above her left breast. She might not be big as Serena or Laila but still Seth could tell that the princess was well developed.

Unaware of the man's wavering thoughts, with her beautiful luminous eyes looking at him innocently, Celine spoke up, "Can you feel it...my heart? Isn't it unnaturally beating? Am I going to die?"

Thanks to her voice, Seth was able to get out of his perverted side as he noticed that indeed her heartbeat has risen to an unnatural pace.

"Well... I am not an expert in this but I have heard that when you like someone and get closer to them physically and emotionally, your heartbeat rises."

Celine remained silent before she let go of Seth's hand which had been holding it near her chest before she planted her ear against Seth's chest.

"You don't like me, Seth?" It was obvious that Seth's heartbeat would be natural since he barely felt his pulse rising until he wasn't fighting or getting into some serious situation.

Initially, it was difficult to keep himself in check since whenever he came across Laila, his heartbeat shot through the roof but now he had built some restraints.

"I think I already told you, Princess...that I-"

"So if we get even more physically closer, would your heartbeat rise?" Interjecting his words Celine spoke in a slight hurry before Seth made a perplexed expression.

"Sorry-" It was already the second time within a minute that Seth was not let to finish his words but this time he wasn't interrupted by the other party's words rather....

*Ba* *Dum*

Even Seth could feel a heavy thumb banging on his chest as he felt the softness of Celine's lips spreading over his own.

Seth didn't know what goes in her mind but at the moment Seth really was kissing the unmarried eldest princess of the Empire with the risk of being seen any moment.

Now that excitement must have raised his heartbeat even more.

*PAH*

With a loud exhale Celine released the kiss as her heels touched the ground once again.

Seth's eyes remained on her glittering pink small lips as for a fraction of a second the desire to abandon his reasoning and kiss the girl until breathless ignited. But he held the beast inside for later.

And it also helped in diverging his attention since for the first time Seth witnessed her facial expression change as a soft smile lifted the edges of her lips.

With slight blush daring to make its way past her neck, Celine muttered with a grin before she leaped away, "It has betrayed your words, Mister Seth. Your heart that is~"

Seth was speechless.

The reason he thought Arata seemed to have disappeared all of a sudden was because he was getting over his phase of depression.

After all, he failed to win the heart of the person for whom he jumped off the cliff in his last life. Seth could only pity the protagonist but his sentiments remained only up to that limit.

However, upon witnessing the protagonist as of now, coated in blood with countless cuts and wounds all over his tattered body and his great sword hanging behind his back, Seth couldn't help but feel shocked.

It was not that he was feeling sad or anything upon seeing Arata's condition. Rather it was the rune stone Arata was holding in Seth's direction that was something that made him perplexed.

After all, this rune stone was also one of the three pieces to obtain the great treasure.

But then again, "Why are you giving me this?"
